Open Ph.D. positions

Cryptographic Protocols Group,  advisor: Dominique Unruh

I am offering research-oriented Ph.D. positions for outstanding students at the Cryptographic Protocols Group at the Saarland University, one of Germany's top venues in computer science.

As a doctoral student in my group, you will work, depending on your interests, in a combination of the following fields:

I am looking for candidates that have a strong background in some area of theoretical computer science (e.g., crypto, complexity theory, programming language theory). You should enjoy mathematics and deep theoretical work. Due to the small size of my group, there will be a very good adviser/student ratio. Also, intense contact and possibilities for joint work with the group of Michael Backes exist.

If you are interested in working with me, see the application instructions below for external candidates or for students already inscribed at the Saarland University.

External candidates

If you are not inscribed at Saarland University and you wish to apply for a position, please send me an application by email with the following information:

Your application should be in English.

(To keep up its high standards, the Saarland University additionally requires that you be accepted by the graduate school of the department of computer science in order to do a Ph.D. at our department. However, you can apply there later.)

If you have any questions, contact me: Dominique Unruh <<surname> at mmci dot uni-saarland dot de>.

Students at the Saarland University

If you are already studying at the Saarland University, you will have to be a member of the graduate school before applying for a Ph.D. position. However, even before you join the graduate school, you might want to visit my courses or do a bachelor/master thesis with me. I am much more likely to accept a Ph.D. student I already know personally. If you are interested in applying for a Ph.D. position, please contact me personally (room 2.14, building E1 1).
